November Book: Proverbs
Writing and reading. They're both part of my job. I tend to go back and forth between them in spurts. I'm either reading a ton of books and not writing as much, or I'm writing a ton and not reading as much. I'm in the middle of a writing craze, so I didn't think I had a book pick to blog about for November. Then I realized there is a book I read almost every single day. The Bible. Today I read a chapter in Psalm, but if you don't know where to start I suggest Proverbs. Proverbs is full of wise sayings that give practical advice for daily living. I like the ESV (English Standard Version), although if you're up for a fun experiment, line up a bunch of different translations and compare and contrast. Reading slightly different words and phrasings of the same verses can bring great insight.Wisdom is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare to her. Her ways are ways of pleasantness and all her paths are peace. Proverbs 3: 15, 17

I love that "wisdom" is described here as female.
