Unplugged
Returned from a mini vacation late last night.
I had packed my spiral notebook and pen in case I wanted to write, but I'd left my laptop behind. I don't own an iPhone or a Blackberry. My home office has a land line, and my "emergency" cell phone doesn't work when I'm out of the country.
So off I went. Unplugged.
When I swam in the ocean, I swam in the ocean.
When I walked the beach, I walked the beach.
When I ate meals, I ate meals and enjoyed the company.
I hopped online one time at the biz center, but I had trouble responding to e-mail because of a huge rainstorm that soaked the cable. The Internet was acting funny. I panicked, but just a tiny bit. If I responded to e-mail in three days instead of three hours would I miss potential assignment opportunities?
Turns out, nope. All is well.
Different styles work for different people. For me, disconnecting from technology and connecting to nature sparks creativity.
Now I'm back home, plugged in, and ready to work.

Welcome back. Disconnecting is one of my favorite ways to re-energize my life. The withdrawal I feel when I do lets me know I probably should more often.

Good for you, we all need to unplug once in a while, I mean not me personally, but...
