Homeschooling
If Ron and I are blessed with kids, I want to homeschool. I think it sounds like a blast (I’d love to spend days with my kids tailoring their education to their personal needs, not to mention relearning all those fascinating subjects I didn’t appreciate enough back in grade school). I don’t care if people think we’re "cuckoo heads" (the exact words of a little kid who overheard me telling his dad I wanted to homeschool). There are more and more cuckoo heads each day because the homeschooling trend keeps growing. One dad has written about it in the book Homeschooling: A Family’s Journey. Read my review of it here. While you’re at it, check out this month’s What Counts?

I would LOVE for my kids to be home schooled, (by someone other than me).

I can see it now! You're born for it!

I want to homeschool as well, at least for elementary school. My family thinks I am nuts, and my husband does, but in part because his family has said I am nuts and he still listens to them too much. I think it will be fun, and that I can do a better job of teaching my children than strangers. I have already thought about things I want to do with my children. Why do so many people think homeshooled children are weird? Some are, the same as some traditionally schooled children are weird. It depends on parenting, personalities, and interaction with people outside the family. You can have good interactions outside your own family without going to traditional school.
We can share notes one day on homeschooling. I say go for it, but you don't need my approval.

I stay open to Homeschooling. I always thought I would do it, too. But then my son came of age, and he just really needed to be with other children more. they do have homeschooling groups that meet, but I didn't feel like it was enough. However, I watch how his education goes, and I would pull him (or Lil'G) if i felt it was not good enough... I think it is barely good enough right now.
In our area Homeschooling is pretty big. There is lots of support, and tools keep getting better and better for parents! I have a friend who has homeschooled her kids off and on, depending on the year, and teacher, etc. I think that has been wise. I don't think it has to be all or nothing, and our kids change so much, their needs change. So someday I may find we should do it.
Homeschooled kids get into great universities in large numbers. So.
