The Great Adventure
I was saddened today to learn of the death of Steven Curtis Chapman’s 5-year-old daughter, Maria. I saw him in concert many years ago after his wife had just given birth to their third child. I remember him saying, “We have Eeny, meeny, miny and NO MOE!" But they did have more. He and his wife became involved in international orphanages – serving abandoned kids, raising money, and establishing a foundation. They adopted three girls from China for a total of six children. My first thought upon reading the news story was, How could God let this happen to such a wonderful, loving family? I do think that good things can come from unexpected and tragic places. And I have faith that will be true here. ~ ~ ~
Years ago, I used to set my alarm clock to wake up to Steven Curtis Chapman’s song The Great Adventure.
Saddle up your horses we’ve got a trail to blaze
Through the wild blue yonder of God’s amazing grace.
Let’s follow our leader into the glorious unknown
This is a life like no other

Wow - hard, but not impossible, to have faith during times like that! I guess that's what makes it faith...

Thanks for sharing this, Jenny. How very sad. I've always liked how it's said: The Lord needed another rose for His bouquet, and little Maria was just the one He needed....

Awwwwww, nooo. That is sad. I know they have a deep faith that will help them, but still my heart so goes out to them all. I can't imagine.

I cried all the way to work yesterday when I heard this on the radio. Then when I got to work and read about it, I cried harder and louder (I have a free first period) because one of her teenage brothers was driving the car on the driveway and didn't see her.
I TALKED to God all day about it. I was mad and bewildered and afraid all at the same time.
This thought comforted me: My dad died in a car accident when I was nearly five years old. When I've listened to SCC's "Cinderella" song, I've wept because I never got to dance with my own dad. Maria (5 years old) COULD POSSIBLY BE DANCING WITH MY DAD TODAY! That thought just swept me up and a different sort of tears flooded my being and poured out all over me.
I am praying for their family!

I'm sorry about your loss.

I believe we have to trust in the wisdom of each soul, no matter how young their physical bodies are.
(That is a fantastic way to wake up in the morning Jenny).

Jenny ~ thanks so much for popping over to my blog and introducting yourself! I've enjoyed looking at your blog here. Yes, so sad about the Chapmans, but God knows what he is doing...even though it seems cruel to us....someday it will all make sense. I'll be back to visit again!

Jenny,
They set up a website where you can send messages to the family. There is also a sweet video of Steven and Maria (the daughter that was killed) washing dishes together. It is heartbreaking. So very sad. I keep saying prayers.
XOXOX
