Thank You My DC-Writing Group!

I enjoy my DC-based writing group so much. One of the members, Amy Rogers Nazarov (look for her work in Cooking Light among other mags), and I met on UPOD and she invited me to join the group -- thank goodness. It's been a huge help because we discuss issues like how to communicate with editors, finding new markets, and holding each other accountable.

The other members, Melanie, Scott, Jeff, Matt, Suz, Rina, and Michele were kind enough to let me tape record a session and really exaimine what it is about our group that works so well.

Read all about it here, on Media Bistro.com: Make Writing Group Magic.

Jenny - this is the best article I've ever read about writing groups - thank you! I haven't had the best results with writing groups, but would have been hard pressed to articulate why. Your article makes me think about what might be helpful - common focus, keeping meetings on track, swapping concrete suggestions, accountability - and what has been missing in previous groups I've tried.

Good stuff!

Hey Jenny, I'm a new freelance writer (since Jan.) and I live in Maryland about 20 min away from downtown D.C.

Is there a way for me to join, or at least come to a meeting. I've never been to one before, and it would be very helpful I'm sure. If possible email me the details at girlwithwords7@hotmail.com

And yes, I do agree with everyone...GREAT article! :)-Candace
