Internal Complications

Tax season.

Ron filled out his info and then handed the forms over to me. Something caught my eye as I calculated numbers and input digits into their rectangle boxes: my husband rounds his numbers to the dollar.

It’s not $1754.37.
It’s 1754.

It’s not $205.23.
It’s 205.

Huh.

Do you know how many pencils I have destroyed (teeth marks, chewed erasers, etc.) due to the fact that I fill out my tax forms to the penny? I swear there is some internal mechanism in my core that causes me to automatically take the more difficult path.

By the way, Ron also doesn’t waste his time putting the little $ sign in front of his numbers. You don’t even want to know how frequently I erase the $ and write it again to make sure the symbol looks just right.

On the bright side, at least I’ve learned yet another way to simplify my life.

I need you to do my taxes. I love your last post -- girl not gone wild. I don't think I could pull that one off either. And the one before it -- about God giving us the manna.

Amazing that we don't realize we're predisposed to taking the difficult path until we see someone else choosing the simpler one. Love that Ron! Love you, too, Jenny, for being able to notice his way and not dismiss it outright.

Funny - Loved this and the clay-baked boobies post! I had to ask a lady to put away her cell phone in the women's locker room at our pool. She was a nice mom-looking lady waiting for her kids, messing with her cell phone but she was doing it right where me and my daughter were dressing. I joked with her and said I wouldn't want her to accidentally end up with a picture on there that she didn't want but it was kind of unnerving. ;)

Taxes-it's a pain. My husband gets it put together and has a CPA look at it. (The CPA is really someone my dad worked with. Long story there. He bought out my dad's company and then my dad just worked for him.)

I do round off when I pay bills. It's so much easier to balance my checkbook.

My dad used to call me a "rounder."

There are a lot of things that I do is the long way, though. So I know what you are talking about. I could use some simplification in other aspects of my life.
